Accounting Software Only Sounds Boring

Most business proprietors I understand believe that accounting software is boring. Less boring as say, sitting with the movie "Watchmen." Or browsing line at Local cafe although some idiot talks about what flavor of tea he should select (it's TEA for God's sake). Or hearing NPR.

But accounting software could be fun. Fun, I only say!

Jason is loaded with lots of fun together with his accounting application. He's who owns a 20-person firm that distributes party supplies. His company's about inventory. He's used your time to make certain that inventory is monitored in great detail by his accounting software. This isn't always easy as she has over 10,000 products. Oh, and lots of helium for balloons. Now, that's fun.

Jason's completely obsessive about quarterly cycle counts, weekly place counts and semiannual physical counts. His warehouse is cleaner than our kitchen, but that is only because I've teenage kids who focus on home destruction. Jason's inventory records are even cleaner than his warehouse floor.

Lots of business proprietors ignore inventory management within their accounting software. Some can't stand keeping detailed records because they do not wish to reveal an excessive amount of towards the tax guy. But with such features will keep this resource in check and for that reason save a lot of money. Now that's fun.

However the fun does not hold on there. Jason's large into alerts. Then when certain inventory levels get below the absolute minimum his buying guy will get an e-mail aware of order more. If your ship date passes the present date then his customer support person will get an e-mail alert. If the inventory item has not been counted lately his warehouse manager will get a reminder. Jason takes alerts even going to his receivables systems too. His controller will get email alerts when bills go past thirty days. And when helium inventory levels are high then Jason takes proper care of this too. He provides extensive fun doing that.

All this is performed by his accounting software. Most widely used accounting programs do that stuff today. And many major databases, like Microsoft's SQL Server permit you to write "triggers" which overlap with alerts. Knowing things before they happen is fun. Discovering afterwards is not. Just request those who invested with Bernie Madoff.

Want more accounting software fun? Request Susan.

Susan is really a partner in a 10-person lawyer. Sure, being an attorney she loves to eat young puppies and beat small children. There is however another side to her too. An enjoyable side. She's a cent pincher, in operation. Susan does not need to bother about inventory. But she will still enjoy her accounting software.

There's lots of stuff she needs to understand about every single day. Like unbilled time that should be charged. And pending client work that should be designated. And client projects which are accumulating against their limits. Susan's no accountant but that does not mean she does not understand how to use her accounting software. She will get expensive info.

Every single day there is a Expensive Set of her desk. This report is really a one pager with key details about the firm. The expensive info. Plus open receivables and open payables. She's not awaiting the finish from the month to obtain her information. She's setting it up immediately. She's benefiting from the daily reviews that her accounting system offers. Like alerts, most software today creates dashboards and expensive reviews and daily status information, additionally towards the detailed financial items that an accounting firm prefer to know.

Like Susan, Ellen's another owner that has fun with accounting software.

Ellen sees her accounting application like a sales tool. She runs certainly one of individuals annoying franchise kiddie-tumbly-gymastic places. Those that hands parents two Advil along with a shot of Jack Daniels when entering. Each time Ellen transmits out a bill she plays using the message at the base. She promotes approaching classes. She encourages her summer time camps. She highlights an excellent employee. Her bills are just like small-tweets (there, now I am awesome because I simply recommended Twitter). Ellen examines her bills not only like a bill for services, but like a communication together with her clients. Fun!

Another fun factor I have seen good cent pinchers do: They pummelled their accounting software partners. They've them are available in, or get online, and suggest to them additional features, add-on programs, and how to operate the product they've. They torture all of them with questions and then try to soak some free training from their store. The program suppliers think they are likely to sell upgrades or even more licenses. Boy, could they be nave.

See? For many cent pinchers, accounting programs could be fun! And lucrative too!
